Rotating Swage Block on Stand
|
Rotating Swage Block from Israel:
This block is said to come from a shipyard operated during British Rule in Palestine (1918-1948).
As such it is probably a British made tool.
There was one very similar to this on display at the 1998 ABANA conference in Asheville, NC.
The advantage of this block it the smith can easily rotate it to expose the shape needed.
250 KG' (550 pounds)
45 x 100 CM' (17" base, 39" long)
11 Half rounds
11 Half hexes
11 each round and square holes.
Canadian John Newman makes a similar but smaller Trunnion Mount Block without the stand.
